Using Subtask

In this article, we'll cover the following Subtasks functionalities:

1) Creating Subtask

  1. To add a subtask within a task, click on the task to open task properties.

  2. Click on + Add Subtask and start typing

  3. Hit Enter or Create.

2) Editing the Subtask properties

  1. Click on the subtask

  2. Set or edit the following:

  • Location

  • Start/Due Date

  • Remind on

  • Assigned to

  • Followers

  • Tags

  • Time Spent

  • Points

  • Label

3) Adding checklist items in the subtask

  1. Click on the subtask

  2. Click on + Add checklist item and start typing a checklist item.

  3. Hit the Enter key to continue adding items

4) Convert a regular task into a subtask

  1. Open the task you would like to convert

  2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of your task window

  3. Select “Convert to subtask” which will open a pop-up box

  4. Search for the name of the task that should be the main task of your converted subtask. Limit your results to the current project if needed.

  5. Tick the box on the bottom if you would also like to move the subtask to the same tasklist as the new main task

  6. Click “Confirm Convert” - your task is now a subtask!

5) Convert a subtask into a regular task

  1. Open the subtask you would like to convert

  2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of your task window

  3. Select “Detach from main task” - your subtask is now a regular task!

6) Change the main task of a subtask

  1. Open the subtask you would like to move

  2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of your task window

  3. Select “Change main task” which will open a pop-up box

  4. Search for the name of the new main task or limit your results to the current project if needed

  5. Tick the box on the bottom if you would also like to move the subtask to the same tasklist as the new main task

  6. Click “Confirm Changes” - the main task of your subtask is now changed!

7) Converting your existing tasks with checklist items into main tasks with subtasks

  1. Click on the task to open the task window

  2. Right-click on each checklist item and select “Convert to a task”

  3. In the pop-up window select the location and title of the task, then click on “Create task”.

4. Open the task you just created

5. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of your task window

6. Select “Convert to subtask” which will open a pop-up box

7. Search for the name of the task that should be the main task to your converted subtask. Limit your results to the current project if needed.

8. Tick the box on the bottom if you would also like to move the subtask to the same tasklist as the new main task

9. Click “Confirm Convert” - your checklist item is now a subtask!
